This unusual panel was taken from a roll of kimono cloth, and was perhaps intended as a Haori lining. The fineness and integrity of design suggest an age pre-dating most if not all of the kimono panels in this gallery. It is a very fine soft silk with a lovely dyed design in geometric blocks, the squares show two distinct styles of dragons as well as a fanged monster mask. The background is a coffee brown, the linear designs are dark sienna brown & the masks/dragons shades of slate blue/grey. It is a delicate piece and would need support backing when used. The textile is in good condition, although along the edges there are some holes. 14.5" x 43".
