Item Details
Mid to late Meiji period (1880-1911)
A kinsha crepe silk kimono featuring fams on a subtle dark background of pavement stones and clouds. Hand-pianted and gold foil, with each fan being unique. Very good condition, with minor imperfections. Note: the kimono had the two sleeves taken in about 4" - perhaps during the 1920's or 30's - as the Meiji era style of longer sleeves became unfashionable in later years; we have carefully undid the shortening stitching to reveal the original sleeves; the sleeves each have an area that required careful hand-stitching to give a finished appearance, which we would provide to a purchaser. 49" from sleeve-end to sleeve-end x 61" height.
