Late Edo Period (1840-1868)
A sine chirimen silk panel featuring a large paulownia motif. All motifs were created with gold-colored threads layed down with the couching embroidery technique. The orange background color on the chirimen (crepe) silk front was created using the beni-beni (safflower) dye. The fibe silk back lining is of a satin using the same dye as the front. The panel consists of thwo cloths stitched together. Very good condition, with minor imperfections. 34" x 34"
